The Client for this residential project is Siobhan O’Hara. She is an architect that is working from home for her company. She has a one-bedroom loft that is a live/work space. Siobhan has requested that this loft be a conducive live/work environment that will be sufficient for her to do their day to day business, and have a space that is comfortable for living and can occasionally transform into an entertaining space for guests and clients. Siobhan wants a modern energetic lofted space with lofts of natural light during the day, and she also has a passion for painting which she would like an area in this home to paint.

Scope of Work: live/work, lofted space, home office, entertaining space

I am proposing a light and airy version of the typical “New York Loft,” but with Scandinavian influences throughout the furniture and décor. We will achieve this with white walls/brick, pale warm toned wood accents and furniture, as well as a mix of metals to keep things interesting. To add contrast, there will be beautiful green spaces, and pops of color in unexpected ways. The space will rely mainly on lots of natural light, however the artificial lighting will be extremely functional, beautiful pieces.

Function, beauty, and contrast will give this space an energetic and vivacious atmosphere conducive for work and for play.
